Indian badminton stars PV Sindhu and the men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty kicked off their Singapore Open campaign with impressive victories at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, advancing past their first-round opponents.

Sindhu, the defending champion from 2022, dispatched Indonesia's Putri Kusuma Wardani in straight games, 21-17, 21-18. Despite a momentary stumble, Sindhu regained her composure to control the match, finishing strong to equalize her head-to-head record with the Indonesian opponent. Sindhu's next challenge will be Japan's Riko Gunji in the pre-quarterfinals.

In men's doubles, the World No. 4 duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty showed resilience after dropping the initial game against Chen Zhi Yi and Presley Smith, ultimately overpowering them with a 26-28, 21-15, 21-13 scoreline. They now prepare to meet Lee Jhe-Huei and Yang Po-Hsuan from Chinese Taipei in the Round of 16. Unfortunately, Ayush Shetty in men's singles faced a tough loss against Victor Lai, winning the first game but faltering in the subsequent ones.
