In a thrilling Eliminator match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals' upcoming cricket sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi almost broke the record for the fastest century in Indian Premier League history. Despite falling just short with 97 runs off 29 deliveries, his performance shattered the record for most sixes in a season, previously held by Chris Gayle.

Sooryavanshi, a 15-year-old left-handed batter in his second IPL season, hit 12 sixes and five boundaries during his explosive innings. He was just one strike away from reaching the century mark, which would have surpassed Gayle's 30-ball century record from IPL 2013.

The young batter's achievements in IPL 2026, accumulating 65 sixes, exceeded Gayle's former record of 59 maximum hits set in 2012. Sooryavanshi had already made a mark this season with some electrifying innings, including the fastest and third fastest centuries in IPL history.

Although he did not reach a century today, Sooryavanshi's power-hitting prowess continues to draw significant attention and set new benchmarks in the world's premier T20 league.
