In a display of dominant cricket, New Zealand triumphed over Ireland with an innings and 79-run victory in a lone test match held at Stormont. This convincing win serves as a prelude to New Zealand's upcoming tour of England.
Ireland, who scored 232 in their second innings, succumbed just before tea on the third day of the four-day match. Seamer Blair Tickner starred with an impressive five-wicket haul, marking his first in test cricket.
Starting the day with a challenging 65-2, Ireland faced a target of 312. Despite some resistance, with Stephen Doheny reaching his maiden test fifty, the team could not withstand the pace attack. Notably, Curtis Campher retired hurt after being hit by a Ben Sears delivery.
Lorcan Tucker provided a brief counterattack with a quick fifty, but ultimately, New Zealand's bowlers, including Nathan Smith, who took eight wickets in the match, wrapped things up swiftly, concluding this segment of Ireland's cricket summer.
