Report: Yankees, Hicks agree to $70M extension

Outfielder Aaron Hicks agreed to a seven-year, $70 million contract extension with the New York Yankees, according to multiple reports Monday. Hicks, 29, is a switch-hitter coming off of a career season.

He had 27 home runs, 79 RBIs and scored 90 runs in 2018. Hicks was acquired from the Minnesota Twins in 2015 and worked his way into a platoon role until midway through the 2017 season, when he became a regular due to injuries.

In 2018, Hicks was the everyday centerfielder for the Yankees, but has also wrestled with injuries, landing on the disabled list four times in three seasons with the team. --Field Level Media
