The first race of the Belgian Formula Two round was abandoned on Saturday after a high-speed crash involving multiple drivers.

The accident happened on the second lap of the race as the cars swept up through the Spa-Francorchamps circuit's fast Raidillon corner, with Juan Manuel Correa hitting Anthoine Hubert after the Frenchman had already gone off into the barriers. Other cars were also involved.

The race was initially halted, with medical teams rushing to the scene of the incident, before being called off. Formula Two races on the same weekends as a support category and feeder series to Formula One.

Some Formula Two drivers are supported by Formula One teams, including Hubert, who is backed by Renault. Mercedes and Renault cancelled their planned media sessions after the accident.
