Los Angeles Rams tight end Tyler Higbee sustained a chest injury during Sunday's game that resulted in his coughing up blood in a hospital, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. Higbee was injured in the Rams' 27-9 victory over the New Orleans Saints and initially was taken to a local hospital for precautionary reasons.
The 26-year-old Higbee's reaction at the hospital came after he was examined by doctors. Fellow tight end Gerald Everett would receive more playing time in the potential absence of Higbee, who had two receptions for 21 yards before exiting Sunday's game.
Higbee, who agreed to a four-year contract extension earlier this month, has six receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown this season. A fourth-round pick in 2016 out of Western Kentucky, Higbee has played in all 50 games and caught 66 passes for 713 yards and five touchdowns in his career.
