Kyle Capobianco scored his first career NHL goal, and Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Lawson Crouse notched their first goals of the season, leading the Arizona Coyotes to a 5-2 win over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday in Glendale, Ariz. Conor Garland added his fourth of the season midway through the second period when he collected the rebound of a Brad Richardson shot and fired the puck past Senators goaltender Craig Anderson. Garland's four goals lead the Coyotes through seven games this season.

Nick Schmaltz assisted on Garland's goal, giving Schmaltz eight points in his last five games. Schmaltz has a five-game point streak, which ties a career-high. Arizona is 4-0-1 in its last five games and 4-2-1 overall after starting the season with two one-goal losses.

The Coyotes got Carl Soderberg's power-play goal at 1:18 of the third period, making it 4-0. Garland assisted, and Alex Goligoski collected his second assist of the game. That goal was significant, as the Senators rallied for two goals before the third period was five minutes old. Vladislav Namestnikov scored a short-handed goal at the 2:58 mark, and Chris Tierney cut the Coyotes' lead to two with a power-play goal at 4:08.

But Ottawa, which lost its third straight has only one win in seven games this season, couldn't get closer, and Crouse sealed Arizona's win with an empty-net goal with 55 seconds to play. Capobianco, a defenseman, was called up from AHL Tucson on Oct. 14 after the Coyotes placed one of their best defensemen, Niklas Hjalmarsson, on injured reserve. His goal just missed a Senator's skate before going in at 7:09 of the first period.

Antti Raanta, getting the start in goal over Darcy Kuemper -- who has allowed two or fewer goals in a team-record 12 straight games -- stopped 34 shots for the Coyotes. Anderson had 23 saves and a secondary assist on Tierney's goal. The Senators totaled 36 shots but are 1-1-7 in their last nine games against Arizona, with a five-loss streak in the head-to-head competition.

The Coyotes honored forward Phil Kessel before the game for having reached 1,000 career NHL games played. Kessel, picked up in a trade with Pittsburgh in the offseason, achieved the milestone last week, and received a silver stick in a ceremony on the ice before the opening faceoff.
