Blue Jackets place D Kukan on IR

The Columbus Blue Jackets' injury woes continue as defenseman Dean Kukan has been placed on injured reserve Friday with a medial meniscus tear and an articular cartilage injury to his left knee. The injury happened during Thursday's 2-1 overtime victory against the Boston Bruins. His last shift ended with 6:11 remaining in the game and there was no obvious sign of injury. He had collided with the Bruins' Jake DeBrusk earlier in the game and was called for a tripping penalty.

The Blue Jackets already are without a number of regulars, including No. 1 goaltender Joonas Korpisalo, yet they have still managed to earn a point in 12 consecutive games. It is the longest current point streak in the NHL. Kukan, 26, has one goal and five assists in 33 games this season. The 26-year old has played in 77 career games over the past four seasons with one goal and 13 assists. He also scored one playoff goal in 10 games last season.
