Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay said Sunday he secured more than 10,000 N95 masks and is donating them to the Indiana State Department of Health. Healthcare workers across the nation are in dire need of the masks and other personal protective equipment to keep them safe as they fight the coronavirus pandemic on the front lines.

Irsay tweeted Sunday that the health department would distribute them "as most urgently needed." Last month, Irsay donated $1 million to the Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana to help feed children who are out of school and those who have lost income during the pandemic.

On Thursday, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft arranged for the team plane to transport 1.2 million masks from China to Massachusetts, where one of the largest outbreaks of the coronavirus has been met with a shortfall of personal protective equipment. More than 300,000 of the masks were delivered to the hard-hit state of New York.
