Bharti Airtel on Monday announced the launch of its largest-ever 5G rollout in 125 more cities in the country. With this mega rollout, Airtel's 5G services are now available to customers in over 265 cities - from the upper northern city of Jammu to the southern tip of Kanyakumari.
Airtel started rolling out its 5G services in the country in October 2022 and recently surpassed the 10 million unique customer mark on its 5G network nationally. The telco said that its 5G services will soon be available in all towns and villages across the country, as it strives to rapidly expand the availability of Airtel 5G Plus service.
"At Airtel, we remain committed to delivering the highest quality of network and service to our customers as we roll out 125 more cities today. Airtel was the first in the country to offer 5G services in October 2022, and today's mega launch is our promise to connect every Airtel customer in the country with ultra-fast Airtel 5G Plus. Our 5G rollout is on track to cover all towns and key rural areas by March 2024," Randeep Sekhon, CTO of Bharti Airtel, said in a statement.
Airtel 5G Plus service offers the following advantages:
- It works on all 5G smartphones in India.
- The network delivers the best experience – between 20 to 30 times higher speeds than today's 4G networks, allowing superfast access to High-Definition video streaming, gaming, multiple chatting, and instant uploading of photos. This is coupled with brilliant voice experience and super-fast call connect.
- The technology also promises to be kinder to the environment with its special power reduction solution.
