Heatwave Relief: How India's E-commerce Giants Protect Their Delivery Partners
Amidst heatwaves in India, food delivery and e-commerce giants like Zomato, Swiggy, and Flipkart have taken measures to safeguard their delivery partners. These include rest points with water and charging facilities, insurance coverage, and health emergency support. Companies also advised users to avoid peak afternoon orders.

As India grapples with an intense heatwave, e-commerce platforms are taking significant steps to ensure the safety of their delivery partners. Zomato has rolled out 450 rest points nationwide, providing essential amenities like seating, water, and mobile charging.
Zomato's CEO Rakesh Ranjan revealed the implementation of new measures, including health emergency services and pre-emptive heatwave alerts. The company also advised users to minimize orders during peak afternoon hours.
Similarly, Swiggy Instamart has established over 900 recharge zones offering rest and refreshment facilities. Meanwhile, Blinkit has integrated SOS support in its app and added cooling systems. Flipkart is also distributing glucose beverages and enhancing its facilities to ensure the well-being of its delivery workforce.
