Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh Demands Rollback on Mobile Tariff Hike

The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) has urged the Indian Prime Minister to reverse mobile tariff hikes imposed by Reliance Jio and Airtel. The union also advocates for the immediate rollout of state-run BSNL's 4G and 5G services to balance the telecom market and provide affordable internet access.

The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), an affiliate of the RSS, has called for the reversal of recent mobile tariff increases by Reliance Jio and Airtel, urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene. The demand includes the swift deployment of 4G and 5G services by state-owned BSNL.

In a letter to the Prime Minister dated July 10, the BMS emphasized that BSNL’s inability to provide high-speed internet services is causing it to lose customers. The union argued that BSNL’s presence as a full-fledged 4G and 5G provider is essential for both national interest and the welfare of common citizens.

BMS General Secretary Ravindra Himite criticized the profit-driven tariff hikes by private telecom operators despite their already significant earnings. He stressed the need for government intervention to compel these companies to reduce rates and highlighted BSNL’s role as a market balancer that curbs unnecessary price increases by private players.
