India's Telecom Sector to Chart Future with Self-Reliant Roadmap

Union telecom minister Jyotiraditya Scindia met with key satellite communication and telecom equipment stakeholders to develop a roadmap for India's self-reliance and global leadership in the telecom sector. The minister emphasized the collaborative efforts and detailed agenda-setting to achieve these goals, with further meetings planned to refine growth strategies.

Union telecom minister Jyotiraditya Scindia convened with three of the six committees representing satellite communications and telecom gear makers to devise a strategy aimed at achieving self-reliance and global leadership in the telecom sector.

The minister stated on Monday that the meeting, held with advisory groups on satellite communications, the electronics ecosystem, and original equipment makers, focused on in-depth discussions about satellite communications, production-linked incentives, and telecom equipment.

Scindia highlighted that the inaugural meeting with the advisory groups was a comprehensive agenda-setting exercise. He mentioned that these advisory groups foster a collaborative environment with the shared objective of making India self-reliant (Atmanirbhar) and a global leader in communications, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Detailed analyses were conducted for each vertical to plot their growth paths.
