Elon Musk Relocates Headquarters of SpaceX and X to Texas

Billionaire Elon Musk announces the relocation of SpaceX and social media company X headquarters from California to Texas. The move is partly due to a new California law that Musk opposes. Musk already relocated Tesla’s headquarters and his residence to Texas, citing no state income tax as a benefit.

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has revealed plans to move the headquarters of SpaceX and social media platform X from California to Texas.

Musk announced on his social media platform, X, that SpaceX will relocate from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas, while X will move from San Francisco to Austin, Texas.

Musk cited a recent law signed by California Governor Gavin Newsom, which prohibits school districts from requiring staff to notify parents of their child's gender identification change, as a major factor in his decision.

"I made it clear to Governor Newsom about a year ago that laws of this nature would prompt families and companies to leave California to protect their children," Musk stated.

Tesla, where Musk serves as CEO, previously moved its corporate headquarters from Palo Alto, California, to Austin, Texas, in 2021.

Musk has also relocated his personal residence to Texas, partially attributing the move to the lack of state personal income tax.
