A global tech outage linked to a software update by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike affected nearly 8.5 million Microsoft devices, Microsoft announced in a blog on Saturday. 'We currently estimate that CrowdStrike's update impacted 8.5 million Windows devices, or less than one percent of all Windows machines,' the blog stated.
CrowdStrike has worked on developing a scalable solution to aid Microsoft's Azure infrastructure in accelerating a fix. According to the tech giant, there was collaboration with both Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform to find the most effective approaches.
The incident caused delays, flight cancellations, and check-in issues for air passengers worldwide, as the IT outage affected a wide range of industries, including banks and media companies.
