Government Initiates CNAP Service Trial in Telecom Sector

The government has commenced the trial and assessment phases for calling name presentation (CNAP) service in the telecom sector. Following recommendations from TRAI received on February 23, 2024, the trials will be conducted in one licensed service area before a nationwide rollout. Minister Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar provided these updates in Parliament.

The government has embarked on trial and assessment phases for the calling name presentation (CNAP) service within the telecom sector, as disclosed in Parliament on Thursday.

Recommendations from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), received on February 23, 2024, called for these trials to occur in one licensed service area (LSA) before wider implementation across India's telecom network.

Minister of State for Communications, Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, revealed in a written Rajya Sabha reply that the government has enacted the necessary steps to kickstart these CNAP service trials by telecom service providers.
