Hezbollah's Expanding Arsenal: A 2023 Overview
Hezbollah, a heavily armed non-state group backed by Iran, has significantly expanded its arsenal during cross-border hostilities with Israel. The group launched rockets and drones in retaliation for a senior commander's assassination, claiming to have used only a fraction of its weaponry. Their arsenal includes missiles, drones, and anti-ship weapons.
Lebanon's Hezbollah has significantly expanded its arsenal over the past 10 months of cross-border conflict with Israel. Despite possessing one of the world's most extensive weapons caches, the Iranian-backed group claims to have used only a small portion of its resources.
On Sunday, Hezbollah launched hundreds of rockets and drones at Israel in retaliation for the assassination of a senior commander in Beirut last month. The Israeli military reported successfully thwarting a larger attack through pre-emptive strikes.
Hezbollah, supported and armed primarily by Iran, holds over 150,000 missiles and rockets, according to the CIA's World Factbook. Their arsenal includes both unguided and precision-guided rockets, drones, and anti-tank, anti-aircraft, and anti-ship missiles, many models of which are Iranian, Russian, or Chinese.
