CDIL Semiconductors has achieved a significant milestone by establishing the country's first indigenous solar bypass diodes production unit in Mohali. This strategic move is set to bolster the domestic solar industry, which has so far depended on imports for such components.

Initially, CDIL's facility will produce 25 million units annually, with an ambitious plan to expand the capacity threefold over the next two years. This innovation will enable solar installations to better handle power loads, thanks to the introduction of ribbon-bound diodes, explained CDIL's General Manager, Prithvideep Singh.

These solar bypass diodes are crucial for solar panel efficiency, acting like a router in electronic circuits. They ensure continuous function by bypassing underperforming solar cells. This initiative is part of CDIL's broader commitment to advancing electronic component manufacturing in India, having recently begun silicon carbide semiconductor production as well.
