U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy announced Tuesday that he has requested the Postal Service governing board to begin finding his successor.
In a statement last November, DeJoy highlighted the need for cost-cutting measures within the U.S. Postal Service. He warned that without decisive action, the organization could face either a government bailout or an existential crisis threatening its current form.
The USPS has not specified the timeline for DeJoy's departure. DeJoy, who has been at the helm of the agency since 2020, continues to emphasize the financial vulnerabilities confronting the postal system.
