The information, detailing the agency’s headcount and total wages, was made available on the department's website, although it was not intended for public dissemination, according to a spokesperson for the agency.

The National Reconnaissance Office, which oversees spy satellites, is currently taking steps to rectify the situation. Despite these efforts, the data remains publicly accessible as of Friday.

The inadvertent disclosure was traced back to the Office of Personnel Management's FedScope database, as stated on the website. Neither representatives for Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency nor the White House have provided comments on the matter despite requests.
