In a call to arms for technological innovation, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh underscored the need for India to harness fast-paced advancements. His remarks came during the Sixteenth Foundation Day of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi, where he emphasized that India is swiftly catching up in fields like artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computation.
Singh pointed to the country's burgeoning startup ecosystem, which now supports over 1.25 lakh startups and 110 unicorns, contributing to India's rise as the third-largest startup landscape globally. He urged students to seize the plentiful job opportunities awaiting industrious and innovative minds within the nation.
The minister highlighted the role IIT Mandi can play in shaping defense-related technology, particularly in robotics, drone technology, and cyber security. He praised the institution's collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and its proactive role in advancing cutting-edge technologies that could provide India an edge over others.
