Adobe Brings Photoshop to Mobile: A Game-Changer for Creators

Adobe announced on Tuesday that its iconic Photoshop app is now available for mobile phones, marking its first foray into this platform. The company is introducing a free version, alongside a premium option priced at $7.99 per month, the lowest cost for the app to date.

Originally launched in 1990, Photoshop has become synonymous with digital image editing, yet has traditionally been a paid service. Previously, the cheapest option was $9.99 monthly for Apple's iPad. Now, a free version is available for iPhone, with an Android version in development. The premium mobile version adds features and cloud storage capability, enhancing versatility for creators editing on larger screens.

This strategic move comes as Apple and Google's mobile operating systems increasingly offer free image editing tools, features that long distinguished Photoshop. Despite these challenges, Adobe's creative professional software remains a significant revenue driver, contributing over half of the company's sales. The brand is targeting younger users who predominantly engage in editing via mobile devices, tailoring their product for this demographic, according to Deepa Subramaniam, Adobe's VP of product marketing.
