The Indian government has taken significant steps to bolster its private space industry by approving the production of more than 60 LVM-3 rockets and launching a constellation of earth observation satellites. These initiatives are set to create considerable business opportunities for the private sector.

Chairman of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (INSPACe), Pawan Kumar Goenka, announced the plans during the Bharat Space Conclave organized by FICCI. He highlighted the anticipated Rs 25,000 crore business influx to the private sector over the next 12-14 years due to the rocket production.

As the space sector opens up for private participation, with nearly 250 start-ups emerging, concerns about limited domestic demand persist. Nonetheless, initiatives like technology transfers by ISRO and government's plans to set up 52 surveillance satellites for defense propose a promising horizon for the industry.
