India's burgeoning technology sector, alongside a youthful, tech-oriented demographic, has positioned the country as a crucial market for semiconductor leader MediaTek, according to Anku Jain, the company's India MD.
Jain highlighted that India's robust economic growth and favorable demographics are accelerating the adoption of advanced technologies like 5G, smart devices, and AI. "India is pivotal for MediaTek due to its vast consumption story," he stated, noting the nation's rapid economic growth and youthful population as key attractions.
While MediaTek's chipsets are chiefly recognized in smartphones, they also power devices such as smart TVs, tablets, Chromebooks, routers, and smart home systems. The company is expanding into new sectors like automotive, partnering with JioThings to develop 4G smart clusters for two-wheeler EVs and providing infotainment systems for vehicles such as Skoda Slavia and Tata Punch EV.
