Tesla's Tech Shift: Dojo Team Shutdown and Strategic AI Moves
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has decided to shut down the Dojo supercomputer team as part of a strategic corporate restructuring. The focus has shifted towards AI-driven technology, with Tesla partnering with tech giants like Nvidia and Samsung. The changes come amid executive departures and a realignment of resources.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has made a pivotal decision to shut down the Dojo supercomputer team, Bloomberg News reported on Thursday. This move comes as part of a broader strategy to streamline Tesla's AI development efforts and redirect focus on key technologies.
The Dojo supercomputer was initially developed for processing immense datasets and video from Tesla's electric vehicles to refine its autonomous-driving capabilities. Musk indicated that it was impractical for Tesla to maintain two separate AI chip programs.
Amidst an ongoing restructuring, Tesla is opting to collaborate with external partners like Nvidia and Samsung. In addition, Samsung's contract to supply AI chips for Tesla's self-driving, robotic, and data center applications is a testament to this new strategy.
