Emergence, a New York-based AI firm, has inaugurated Emergence India Labs, marking India's first dedicated lab focused on developing autonomous AI technologies. Situated in Bengaluru, the lab aspires to push India's tech industry from traditional IT services toward advanced autonomous systems.

Strategically located near the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), the lab will work in close collaboration with the institute to foster joint research and nurture talent through hackathons and summer schools. The initiative aims to bolster India's capacity in autonomous systems by building on local talent and resources.

Emergence India Labs plans to employ 500 top-notch scientists over the next three to four years, thereby becoming a focal point for frontier AI research in the country. The lab's larger vision is to establish India's role in global autonomous systems research and engineering leadership.
