India's standing in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI) is unique, thanks to its strong technological infrastructure and a large, digitally literate populace, explains Babak Hodjat, Chief AI Officer at Cognizant.

Speaking at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, Hodjat emphasized India's advanced starting point in AI, positioning the country ahead in adopting and driving AI technologies. He noted that AI tools are revolutionizing various fields, yet human developers remain crucial for constructing modular systems and ensuring the quality of AI-generated outputs.

Cognizant, now an 'AI builder', aims to facilitate enterprise adoption of AI, embedding advanced AI technologies internally to optimize returns. The company stresses upskilling employees to cultivate an 'AI-first' culture, with a significant portion of its codebase already AI-generated. Hodjat reassures that developers will play an indispensable role despite AI's growing capabilities.
