Blue Origin, owned by Jeff Bezos, is conducting an investigation into a significant rocket explosion at their launch pad. This incident, which turned the night sky into a fiery scene visible from miles away, occurred during a test firing late Thursday.
The massive New Glenn rocket, part of Blue Origin's ambitions to support NASA's Artemis moon missions, detonated unexpectedly, damaging part of the launch facility. Public safety officials have cautioned residents to report any remnants of the debris to authorities.
Importantly, no satellites were on the rocket at the time of explosion. Blue Origin's upcoming plans for moon lander launches with NASA and commercial satellite trips have now been stalled until further notice, pending the conclusion of their inquiry.
