Denis Obrezko, a suspected Russian hacker, has been detained in U.S. custody after his arrest in Thailand last year. He faces charges linked to cyberattacks orchestrated by the Russia-aligned group, Void Blizzard, against several American companies.
During his initial court appearance in Boston, Obrezko was accused by U.S. authorities of participating in a significant cyber espionage campaign. The case, prosecuted by the Department of Justice's National Security Division, connects him to conspiracy for unauthorized computer access.
