Apple slams Spotify over complaint, says it wouldn't have reached this level without App Store

In a war of words after music streaming service Spotify filed a complaint against Apple alleging anti-competitive practices in Europe, the iPhone maker responded saying Spotify is what it is because of Apple. Two days ago, Spotify filed the complaint against Apple with the European Commission. The company has been accused of App Store rules that purposely limit choice and stifle innovation.
According to a report on Fast Company, Apple launched a rebuttal to Spotify’s allegations and calling it a hypocrite by complaining about the App Store fees when Spotify itself distributes music making ever-smaller contributions to the creators. Depending its revenue share policy, Apple said that the only contribution it seeks is for digital goods and services that are purchased inside the app.
Apple stressed that Spotify wouldn’t be the business it is today without the App Store ecosystem, and now it is leveraging their scale to avoid contributing to the ecosystem.
