US-based chipmaker Qualcomm Technologies recently unveiled its latest Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset for enhanced AI experience, gaming, improved graphics, augmented reality and robust 5G connectivity.

Built especially to raise gaming experience to the next level, the chipset is an upgradation to the 2019 Android flagship Snapdragon 855 5G mobile processor. Using the X50 5G modem and Qualcomm Technologies’ RF Front-end solutions, the new processor also supports 5G connectivity to deliver cutting-edge cellular performance, superior coverage and all-day battery life in premium 5G-enabled devices.

Comparison with 855 and 845 mobile processor

  • The new chipset features Qualcomm Kyro 485 Prime CPU core that clocks speed at up to 2.96GHz, which is faster than 855 and 845 mobile processors that boast up to 2.84GHz and 2.8 GHz speed respectively

  • Both 855 and 855 plus feature support for Snapdragon X24 LTE modem for 4G connectivity while the 845 supports X20 LTE modem

The Snapdragon Elite Gaming Experience provides features that are fully optimized for enhanced experiences in gaming. It also features software enhancements such as Game Jank Reducer, Game Fast Loader, Game AntiCheat Extensions, and more, thus giving incredible crystal-clear visuals and audio to fuel next-level gaming experiences. The Vulkan 1.1 Graphics Driver runs off 20 percent less power than Open GL ES, thus providing better gaming graphics.

According to Qualcomm, it's 4th generation multi-core AI Engine delivers ultra-responsive gaming experience and harnesses the best of multi-gigabit 4G connectivity while holding the key to new, uncharted levels of 5G gaming. Also, aptX Audio and Aqstic audio technologies provide optimum audio quality, better voice recognition, and power savings for thrilling mobile gaming.
