Quick Media Edit, Pinned Alert and more features: WhatsApp iOS Beta 2.19.80.16

The messaging platform will now notify its users when there are downloading issues via a pinned alert on the top of the chats, basically to suggest users that they are using an older version.

WhatsApp, a Facebook-owned popular messaging app is reportedly working on a lot of new features for iOS users. Well, the messaging giant has recently rolled out a new update in the TestFlight Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.19.80.16. TestFlight tool allows testers to install and beta test apps on Apple devices.

WABetaInfo, a website dedicated to tracking WhatsApp updates posted screenshots of the new features including quick media edit feature for iOS. Let's have a look at three major updates to WhatsApp for iOS beta version:

Quick Media Edit

The feature which was reportedly under development is now available for WhatsApp beta testers in the latest version 2.19.80.16 for iOS. The feature will enable users to edit sent and received media directly in the chat windows. Currently, users have to download the image, edit it separately outside the app and then share it with other contacts or groups. The new feature will be quick to use and will obviously save some time. Earlier this month, WABetaInfo reported that WhatsApp beta was developing a Quick Edit Media Shortcut for Android and iOS.

Profile Picture 3D shortcut removed

WhatsApp has disabled the 3D Touch shortcuts that allowed users to save profile pictures. 3D Touch support is used for previews and shortcuts on the iPhone. With the removal of this feature, users will no longer be able to copy, save and export profile pictures of their WhatsApp contacts.

Pinned alert

The messaging platform will now notify its users when there are downloading issues (regarding media or messages) via a pinned alert on the top of the chats, basically to suggest users that they are using an older version. The alert will also come with a 'Tap to update' option.

WhatsApp is also reportedly working on the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) version that would allow users to use the same account on multiple devices simultaneously. While, there isn't much information available about it but as per WABetaInfo report, with the UWP app one can use WhatsApp on PC without an internet connection, even when the phone is switched off. Usually, users need to keep their phone connected to the internet to use WhatsApp on a computer.
