Indonesia facing a serious crisis in educational sector
The Government plans to recruit 100 thousand teachers every year to cover the shortage of teachers.

Education and Cultural Minister Muhadjir Effendi said a lack of teachers in several parts of Indonesia posed a serious problem to the national education. He explained that every year tens of thousands of teachers are retired in the country.
Although the government is trying to tackle the problem and taking initiatives towards it. The Government plans to recruit 100 thousand teachers every year to cover the shortage of teachers. Although the problem of shortage of teachers will need at least seven years to fill the gaps as per the government.
The Education and Cultural Minister said that they are paying special attention to develop the educational sector of the country, and they are trying to reach the most disadvantaged region of the country.
The ministry also said that all the stakeholders in the ministry realize the importance of upgrading the education in the country by appointing capable teachers and improving the assessment of students learning.
"The standard we use to teach our students are below that of other countries which have a good system in PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment). We must improve our standards, regardless of whether we like it or not," Muhadjir Effendi said.
