25,260,000 CFA francs is the total amount mobilized by NGO Benin-Clean Cities to make about fifty bins in the city of Cotonou to serve as receptacles for waste produced by road users.

The funds were also used to make garbage banners on the central solid land, and to make about 10,000 copies of paper packaging as a prelude to the implementation of the law against the use of plastic bags.

"These are garbage cans of very good quality. The environment is the only good we have in common and we have the duty to save it for generations to come", said the prefect of Littoral Department, Modeste Toboula while welcoming the initiative of the NGO Benin-Clean Cities.

According to the president of this non-governmental organization, Alain Adjibadé, this initiative was born out of the desire to contribute to the government's efforts, particularly in terms of sanitation through the Asphalting project.

"We want Cotonou to change its face and become one of the cleanest cities in the sub-region. Waste management is a development issue", concluded Alain Adjibadé.
