Mahesh is the son of Telugu cinema's well-known actor, Krishna. Talking about his film journey, he was seen in the role of a child artist in the film 'Nida' in 1979, at that time Mahesh Babu was only 4 years old.

He then acted in the film 'Murari' in 2001 along with actress Sonali Bendre, who was suffering from cancer in this film, was in the lead role.
