Technical Woes Cause Major Delays for Air India Flights

Air India's flight scheduled to depart from New Delhi to Vancouver faced significant delays due to technical issues. The rescheduled flight is now set to leave early Sunday. This marks the second major delay in three days for Air India's international flights, affecting their Delhi-San Francisco route as well.

Air India's flight from New Delhi to Vancouver experienced substantial delays on early Saturday morning, owing to technical problems.

The airline declared that the rescheduled departure is now expected to be early Sunday morning.

This is the second major delay within three days for Air India's international flights. Previously, the Delhi-San Francisco flight, scheduled for Thursday afternoon, was delayed by more than 30 hours and departed late Friday night.

Speaking on the matter, an Air India spokesperson said, ''AI185, scheduled to operate from Delhi to Vancouver on June 1, was delayed due to technical issues and the crew exceeding the mandatory Flight Duty Time Limitations.''

The flight is now expected to leave early morning on June 2, with the airline expressing regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers.

The original departure time was around 0530 hours on Saturday.

Details on the number of affected passengers remain unclear.

The spokesperson mentioned that hotel accommodations, full refunds in case of cancellations, and complimentary rescheduling options were offered to affected passengers. On Friday, the DGCA issued a show-cause notice to Air India regarding flight delays and inadequate passenger care.

The notice highlighted inordinate delays of international flights AI 183 from Delhi to San Francisco on May 30 and AI 179 from Mumbai to San Francisco on May 24.
