IT sector employee union NITES has called on the Ministry of Labour and Employment to investigate the repeated delays in onboarding over 2,000 campus recruits by tech giant Infosys.

The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) alleged these delays have spanned more than two years, causing significant hardship and leaving many professionals 'in a limbo.'

Infosys has yet to comment on the issue.

According to Harpreet Singh Saluja, President of NITES, Infosys' actions represent a ''serious breach of trust.''

''Many recruits turned down other job offers in good faith because they relied on Infosys's offer letters. Now, these young professionals face financial hardship and uncertainty due to a lack of income and an ambiguous onboarding timeline,'' Saluja stated.

NITES has petitioned the Ministry to investigate and ensure Infosys meets its obligations to the new hires.

The union demands full salary payments for the affected period and immediate access to Infosys' employee assistance programs to alleviate mental and emotional strain caused by the delay.

Additionally, NITES has urged Infosys to work actively with recruits to find alternative employment opportunities within the organization if immediate onboarding remains unfeasible.

''We have requested the Ministry to take swift action to protect these employees and ensure they are not unfairly penalised by Infosys's decisions,'' the statement added.
