In a notable trend, the average Indian household's consumption of bottled soft drinks has surged in the past two years, surpassing a 50% annual penetration rate in FY24, as per the latest Kantar FMCG pulse report. This increase is expected to continue with the intensifying summer season.
The report also highlights an expanded consumption of bottled soft drinks by 250 ml in the last two years. Premium laundry items, including fabric softeners and washing liquids, have seen significant market penetration, with washing liquids breaching the 100,000-tonne mark in FY24. These developments are termed 'record breakers' by the report.
The bottled soft drink category showcased a remarkable 41% household growth in MAT March 2023 and continued to expand by 19% in MAT March 2024. Despite a decrease in average basket value, consumers are shopping FMCG products more frequently, indicating a shift toward larger pack sizes.
