Arunachal CM Urges Swift Action on NH-415 Amid Cloudburst Damage

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed dismay over the slow progress of National Highway-415 construction amid recent cloudburst damage. Chairing a review meeting, Khandu instructed officials to expedite repairs to mitigate public inconvenience and emphasized the importance of timely infrastructure projects for state development.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has voiced his disappointment over the protracted construction of National Highway-415, particularly the stretch between Papu Nallah near Naharlagun and Nirjuli in the Itanagar Capital Region.

During a review meeting on Monday, aimed at assessing the impact of a recent cloudburst that struck the area on Sunday, Khandu strongly criticized the sluggish progress of the four-lane highway project, highlighting the significant inconvenience it has been causing for everyday commuters.

“The delay is causing immense harassment to the public, and swift action is required to address the issue,” Khandu stated, instructing highway department officials to expedite the work without compromising on quality.

Khandu stressed the importance of the timely completion and maintenance of infrastructure projects for the benefit of citizens and the state's development. Additionally, he directed various departments to promptly repair the damage caused by the cloudburst, ensuring smooth traffic flow and minimal disruption to daily routines.

The review meeting was attended by Advisor to PWD Minister Phurpa Tsering, Principal Secretary Kaling Tayeng, and senior Public Works Department (PWD) officials.

The cloudburst triggered landslides and a flood-like situation in Itanagar, damaging numerous sections of NH-415 and nearby houses.
