Madhya Pradesh Introduces Gujarat-Style Checkpoints for Streamlined Border Transport

Madhya Pradesh is replacing existing check posts at state borders with 45 new checkpoints, modeled after Gujarat's system. This change, aimed at easing business operations, will increase Transport Department revenue and reduce complaints. Implementation starts Monday, with mobile units in place until permanent checkpoints are established.

In a significant move to streamline border transport operations, Madhya Pradesh is adopting the Gujarat model by replacing state border check posts with 45 new checkpoints. The transition is set to begin on Monday.

Officials noted that mobile units will temporarily manage border transport until the new checkpoints are fully operational. The Transport Department’s checkpoints in 26 districts will now work on the Gujarat pattern, enhancing efficiency and business ease.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has directed border district officials to ensure the seamless implementation of this new system, which is expected to bolster revenue and address complaints related to border check posts. Additionally, 211 home guards are assigned to support this new arrangement.
