The governments of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan have inked a groundbreaking agreement to advance the Rs 72,000 crore Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal river linking project. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Bhopal by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

The ambitious project aims to supply drinking and industrial water to 13 districts in eastern Rajasthan, as well as Malwa and Chambal regions of Madhya Pradesh, covering an irrigation area of 2.8 lakh hectares in each state. It also promises the economic utilization of the Chambal basin's water resources.

Emphasizing the long-term benefits, Yadav declared that this project will set a new development landmark for both states by making optimal use of every drop of water. The framework also opens avenues for future collaboration in tourism, medicine, mining, and other sectors.
