In a tragic turn of events on Monday morning, a 14-year-old schoolgirl lost her life, and six others were injured in a collision between an autorickshaw and a motorcycle on Dahanu-Jawhar road in Palghar district, police reported.
The incident occurred near Charoti village when an autorickshaw, having stopped midway, was hit by an oncoming motorcycle, causing the autorickshaw to overturn. The deceased, identified as Sangeeta Dokphode, was en route to school.
The injured have been admitted to the Kasa sub-district hospital, with some reported to be in serious condition. Police have initiated a probe into the accident to ascertain further details.
