Modi's Strategic Pre-Budget Talks Aim to Outline India’s Economic Future

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a crucial pre-Budget meeting involving top economists and sectoral experts. The session, which included Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, focused on formulating the Union Budget 2024, aiming to set a strategic path for India’s development and economic resilience.

In preparation for the Union Budget 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a high-level meeting with economists and sectoral experts on Thursday. The gathering, which included Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, marks a crucial step as the government readies itself to present its expansive Budget for its third term on July 23.

Notable figures at the pre-Budget meeting included Niti Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Bery and other members of the planning body. The session was characterized by in-depth discussions designed to shape the economic direction of the country for the upcoming fiscal year.

This Budget is particularly significant as it represents the first major economic document of the Modi 3.0 administration. It is expected to provide a strategic roadmap for India's development, aimed at achieving the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

Pre-Budget consultations for the Union Budget 2024-25, which began on June 19, 2024, in the Ministry of Finance under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, concluded on July 5. During these in-person consultations, over 120 invitees from 10 different stakeholder groups, including experts and representatives from various sectors such as agriculture, trade, education, health, MSME, and infrastructure, participated, the Ministry of Finance reported.

Union Ministers of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary and other senior officials were also present at these consultations. Sitharaman thanked the participants for their valuable input and assured that their suggestions would be thoroughly examined and considered in the preparation of the Union Budget 2024-25.
