UP Mangoes Set to Conquer International Markets

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that the state will export 40 tonnes of mangoes to Japan and Malaysia this year while Lucknow's Dussehri mango will be exported to the USA for the first time. He made this announcement at the Mango Festival held at Awadh Shilp Gram.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday revealed that the state will export 40 tonnes of mangoes to Japan and Malaysia this year. This marks the first time in 160 years that Lucknow's Dussehri mango will be exported to the USA, Adityanath said.

Speaking at the inaugural function of the three-day Mango Festival at Awadh Shilp Gram, Adityanath noted that the price of Dussehri mango in India ranges from Rs 60 to Rs 100 per kg, but it climbs to Rs 900 per kg in the US market.

He explained that even after accounting for duty tax, cargo, and air freight costs—estimated at Rs 250-300 per kg—farmers will still realize a profit of Rs 600 per kg. The Chief Minister also stated that Uttar Pradesh produces 58 lakh metric tonnes of mangoes across 3.15 lakh hectares, accounting for 25-30% of India's total mango production.

Adityanath inaugurated a mango exhibition featuring around 120 varieties of special mangoes and flagged off a mango truck destined for various countries. The festival, running from July 12 to July 14, includes a mango-eating competition and training seminar.
