Delhi's Green Fleet Push: Over 100,000 Vehicles Onboard New Scheme

Delhi's government has launched the 'Motor Vehicle Aggregator and Delivery Service Provider Scheme,' bringing over one lakh vehicles from 21 different companies, including Ola and Uber, onboard. This initiative aims to regulate and electrify cab aggregators' and delivery fleets while promoting sustainable urban mobility.

In an ambitious move, the Delhi government has onboarded over one lakh vehicles from 21 cab aggregators, delivery services, and e-commerce companies under its 'Motor Vehicle Aggregator and Delivery Service Provider Scheme,' announced the city's transport department on Saturday.

The scheme mandates entities with more than 25 vehicles in their fleet to obtain a license and sets a timeline for electrification. Non-compliance could attract penalties ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 100,000 per instance. Prominent participants include Smartshift Logistics, ANI Technologies (parent company of Ola), Uber India, Zomato, Blink Commerce, among others. Together, they span a fleet of electric, petrol, and CNG vehicles.

Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot hailed the scheme, saying it underscores businesses' faith in the state's vision for sustainable urban mobility. The initiative not only aims to boost green mobility but also aims to establish high standards for service quality and public safety.
