The Goa government will begin collecting revenue from the Manohar International Airport in Mopa starting December 7, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant revealed on Monday in the state legislative assembly.
In a written statement tabled in the House, Sawant said the state cabinet approved the extension for the concessionaire's payment of premium to the government, moving the date from May 31 to December 7, 2024.
Sawant highlighted that according to the concession agreement, the scheduled completion date for Phase I of the airport was September 3, 2020, with revenue collection expected to begin from September 4, 2020.
However, legal stay orders and the COVID-19 pandemic delayed Phase I completion by 851 days, he explained.
''Revenue sharing with the government will commence two years after the completion of Phase I,'' Sawant added.
Phase I of the Mopa airport in North Goa, finished in December 2022, saw project milestone extensions and rescheduled completion dates per the concession agreement, affecting revenue share payment dates.
