The Godrej Group has cemented new corporate foundations following a family settlement that has effectively split the 127-year-old conglomerate into two distinct entities. According to regulatory filings, the settlement was finalized in April.
The agreement saw Godrej Industries Group (GIG) led by Adi and Nadir Godrej, while Godrej Enterprises Group (GEG) went to Jamshyd Godrej and Smita Godrej Crishna. Nadir, along with Adi's children, now controls a 64.66% stake in flagship firm Godrej Industries Ltd (GIL) as outlined in the settlement terms.
Additional regulatory updates reveal that members of both groups, including Nadir and his offspring as well as Adi's progeny Tanya, Nisaba, and Pirojsha, now command significant control in several other Godrej companies. These realignments mark a significant shift in the conglomerate's structure and governance.
