Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, has called on the Indian business community to invest in the nation, citing India's impeccable history of never defaulting on a sovereign bond as a key reason.
Speaking to the Indian community, Goyal said, 'Investing in India has tremendous potential for job creation and driving immense growth. NRI deposits saw a $3 billion inflow this year between April and May, four times the amount from last year. Given the US interest rates, there's no better country to invest in for growth, safety, and a stable currency.'
Goyal emphasized the strengthening India-US relationship, describing it as a 'golden era' and pointing out opportunities for synergy between the two nations. He noted the government's plans for collaboration with the US in semiconductor technology and the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI). The IndiaAI Mission has been allocated over Rs 10,300 crore to bolster the AI ecosystem, catalyzing initiatives such as Compute Capacity, Innovation Centres, and Startup Financing.
Highlighting infrastructure development, Goyal stated, 'You will see massive infrastructure projects transforming business operations and commuting.' He projected that India would become the third-largest GDP economy by 2027-28, aiming for a USD 5 trillion economy by 2025 with significant contributions from agriculture, manufacturing, and services sectors.
