After a hiatus of five years, Andhra Pradesh has received 'special allocations' in the Union Budget, according to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Announced on Tuesday, the TDP highlighted key financial commitments made in the 2024-25 fiscal plan, including significant funds for the Polavaram Project and industrial development corridors.
In a social media post, the TDP detailed that Rs 15,000 crore has been allocated for Andhra Pradesh's reconstruction effort. This includes funding for the Polavaram Project, additional financing for the Vizag-Chennai Industrial Corridor, and special funds for seven backward districts in the state.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, presenting the budget in the Lok Sabha, emphasized the NDA government's dedication to the commitments outlined in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. The Centre will facilitate special financial support through multilateral agencies. Sitharaman highlighted the Polavaram Project as crucial for the state's irrigation needs and food security.
