Congress MP Proposes Regulation on Escalating Airfares

Congress MP Shafi Parambil has moved a private member's resolution in the Lok Sabha to regulate airfare prices, especially during vacation seasons. Parambil highlighted the financial burden on migrant workers in the Gulf region due to exorbitant airfares. The MP urged the government to consider appropriate measures to address the issue.

On Friday, Congress MP Shafi Parambil took a significant step by moving a private member's resolution in the Lok Sabha, aiming to regulate airfare prices.

Parambil, representing Vadakara in Kerala, emphasized that many Gulf region migrant workers, often unskilled or semi-skilled and with limited income, are trapped in debt cycles due to soaring airfares during vacation seasons.

This action came a day after Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu vowed to investigate abrupt fare hikes following complaints by MPs and a prompt by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
